Is Rudy the man?

This article on grin.com called “Is Rudy Giuliani really a glamorous Hero?” is stating that former Ney York Mayor Rudy Giuliani is responsible of the many positive changes that occurred in his term but he’s also responsible to many negatives that occurred as well. As a politician he was scrutinized for his bad policies but also glorified for his good policies. As reader of this article would you consider him a hero? Consider that his years before 9/11 was heavily scrutinized but he was in charge crime level going down dramatically and his known for his participation in commanding the NYPD and NYFD toward the 9/11 tragedy. Does his action after 9/11 overshadow his action prior to it?

  1. I believe you should never forget the past but to learbn from it. If Rudy has changed and is now bettering the nation maybe he learned from mistakes and is now trying to help out

  2. The article states that Rudy was into politics since he was in school, therefore he chose a career path that he would love. I don't really see him as a hero for telling the cops and police officers to go to the scene of 9/11. I feel that he was just an organizer to keep the chaos a little under control. He is a politician so their actions are not 100% what you would expect since society has the saying all politicians are liars. And since he is a politician his actions may not be for what he believes in but what the people want. All politicians are scrutinized but when you look past the title he may be a good person in the past and present.

  3. I don't think that Rudy is a hero. The article states the good and bad things that have happened in his career. I just don't think that he can be considered a hero for just doing his job. He may be good at what he does, but that doesn't make him a hero and neither do his actions that happened during 9/11. I felt like the source had a lot of background information that didn't really prove their argument: "Is Rudy Giuliani Really a Glamorous Hero?" I feel that the public is particularly hard on our politicians and the bad actions seem to outweigh the great on many occasions.

  4. I don't agree with Libby's idea. I think Rudy could consider as a hero. Yes, he is just doing his job, while he did excellent in his job especially during 9/11. Not everyone can doing his job excellent. His leadership be showed during 9/11 must saved a lot of lives. So, that's why I think Rudy is the man.

  5. I agree completely with Libby's argument. I don't think Rudy can be considered a hero. This article gave an overload of background information on Rudy's life; but none of that information really shows how he should be regarded as a hero. The information given in this article does not go in depth to describe why they they think each of his individual actions can be used to justify him as being a hero. I feel as though Rudy is just another man with a lot of accomplishments under his belt but nothing really stands out that makes him what a hero truly is. Heroes habitually sacrifice their own needs and wants to help others meet theirs. This article never really shows how Rudy sacrifices for others, it seems to only describe his life accomplishments. May be if this article was a little less accomplish-centered its arguments would be more convincing

  6. I'm a bit confused. Apparently you have to pay to read the whole article?

Going by the excerpt though, I wouldn't call Giuliani a hero. I wouldn't say he's a bad guy either though. He's your average politician, he's got a lot of marks on his record, and some gold stars as well. He did a decent job handling 9/11, and we all liked him for it. I'd shake his hand, at any rate.

Why does the topic of heroism in America always bring up 9/11? Man...
